TempFile.org is a free, privacy-first temporary file hosting service that allows you to upload files and share them with others through direct download links. All files are automatically deleted after your chosen time period (1-48 hours), ensuring your privacy and data security.

No account registration is required. You can start uploading and sharing files immediately without any sign-up process. This helps protect your privacy and makes the service accessible to everyone.

You can upload files in two ways:

• Local Upload: Drag and drop files or click to browse your device
• URL Download: Provide a URL and we'll download and host the file for you

Both methods use secure HTTPS encryption for your safety.

Yes! You can use our official Telegram bot @tempfile_bot to upload and share files directly from Telegram. It’s fast, private, and works just like the website.

Yes. TempFile.org has a free REST API for uploading files (or importing them from a URL), getting file information and download links, and deleting files. No API key or account is needed, and it uses the same limits and expiry times as the website.

TempFile.org is free to use, and supporting it is entirely optional. If you'd like to help cover hosting costs, you can:

• Tap the Support us button at the bottom left of any page. It opens our Ko-fi page in a new tab, where you can give once or monthly.
• Use the Support on Ko-fi button in the "Support This Project" section at the bottom of the home page and the upload page.
• Send crypto to the address listed in that same section.

On phones, the Support us button shares its spot with the Install App button, so you may see Install App first. Support us appears once that button is dismissed or the app is installed.

The maximum file size is 100MB per file. Large files are automatically uploaded using chunked transfer for better reliability and to handle network interruptions gracefully.

You can make up to 200 upload requests per hour, with up to 20 files per request. This limit helps us maintain service quality for all users and prevent abuse of the system.

We support all legitimate file types including documents, images, videos, archives, and more. However, we strictly prohibit adult content, malware, copyrighted material, and any content that violates our terms of service.

Files are automatically deleted after the time period you select (1, 6, 24, or 48 hours). This ensures your privacy and helps us manage storage efficiently. Once expired, files cannot be recovered.

After uploading, your file appears in the "Your Temporary Files" list with a direct download URL. Click Copy URL and send the link to anyone you want to give access to your file, or use the QR code and Share buttons next to the link to send it without typing anything. The link works on all devices and browsers.

Click the QR code button next to a file's link in your "Your Temporary Files" list. A window opens with a QR code for the file's download link. Scan it with your phone's camera to open the file, which is handy for moving a file from your computer to your phone or sharing it with someone next to you.

• Download QR saves the code as a PNG image
• Copy Link copies the file's URL

Click the Share button next to a file's link. The "Share this file" window shows the link with a Copy button, plus one-tap options for:

• WhatsApp, Telegram and Email
• Share via (on phones and browsers that support it), which opens your device's own share sheet so you can send the link with any app you have installed. Where it isn't available, an X option appears instead.

Picking an option opens that app or site with the file name and link already filled in. You review the message and send it yourself.

Download URLs are randomly generated and cannot be easily guessed. However, anyone with the link can access your file, so only share with trusted recipients. For extra security, consider encrypting sensitive files before upload.

Currently, we don't offer built-in password protection. For sensitive files, we recommend encrypting them before upload.

Files remain available for download until they expire. There's no limit on the number of downloads during the retention period.

Once a file expires, it is permanently deleted from our servers. Links to the file will no longer work, and the content cannot be recovered. This is part of our privacy-first approach.

Yes. You can install TempFile.org on your phone, tablet or computer for free. It installs straight from your browser, so there's nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play. Once installed, TempFile.org gets its own icon, opens in its own window without the browser toolbar, and on supported devices pressing and holding the icon offers an Upload a file shortcut. It's the same service as the website, with the same limits and expiry times.

• Android: Tap Install App at the bottom of the screen, then confirm. You can also use the Install button in the "Get the app" card near the bottom of the home page.
• iPhone and iPad (Safari): Tap Install App for step-by-step instructions, or tap the Share icon in Safari's toolbar, choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
• Computer (Chrome or Edge): Click Install in the "Get the app" card near the bottom of the home page, or use the install icon in your browser's address bar.

• It's already installed: inside the app, the install card changes to "App installed" and the button is hidden.
• You dismissed it: tapping the × on the floating button hides it for 14 days. You can still install from the "Get the app" card or your browser's menu (Add to Home screen or Install app).
• You're on a computer: the floating button only appears on phones and tablets. Use the "Get the app" card near the bottom of the home page instead.
• Your browser can't install apps: not every browser supports it. TempFile.org works exactly the same in a normal tab.

No. Uploading, downloading and viewing your file list all need an internet connection. If you open the app while offline, you'll see a "You're offline" screen with a Try again button, and it reconnects automatically when your connection returns. The app only stores the site's pages and images so it opens quickly. Your files are never cached on your device.

Try these troubleshooting steps:

• Check your internet connection stability
• Ensure the file is under 100MB
• Try refreshing the page and uploading again
• Clear your browser cache and cookies
• Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
• Disable browser extensions temporarily

This usually means the file has expired and been automatically deleted. Check the expiry time shown when the file was uploaded. If the file should still be active, try the link in a different browser or device.

• If the window says the QR code failed to load, refresh the page and try again
• Turn your screen brightness up and hold your phone steady a short distance from the code
• Use Download QR and open the image on a larger screen if the code is hard to scan
• If scanning leads to a "file not found" page, the file has expired

No, expiry times cannot be modified after upload for security and privacy reasons. You'll need to re-upload the file with a longer retention period if needed.

We use HTTPS encryption for all transfers and store files securely with industry-standard practices. Files are automatically deleted after expiry, and we never use your content for advertising or analytics.

We don't routinely scan or view file contents. However, we may investigate files reported for abuse or that violate our terms of service. We use automated systems to detect prohibited content types.

Yes, if you're still in the same browser session, you can delete uploaded files from the "Your Temporary Files" list. This uses local browser storage, so it's only available from the device/browser used during upload.

We use automated scanning systems to detect and prevent malicious content. However, we recommend always scanning downloaded files with your own antivirus software as an additional precaution.
